With our weeks worth of espanol crammed before the trip and plenty of hand gestures, we managed to:

- get the price of a tarjeta SIM or "chip" as its called here
- find out that there was 50 pesos credit with it
- understand that an SMS cost .85 pesos
- figure out that we needed to dial *333 and press 1 to activate our SIM and to get the balance
- assure the girl that we had an unlocked phone that would work (deblocado)
